SPARK SPEAKER SERIES | Building Brain-Healthy Habits

Barb Knapp, Senior Program Manager, Alzheimer's Association

Tuesday, April 14, 1:00PM at The Alamosa Senior Citizens Center and 6:00pm at The Bridge at Alamosa

The Alzheimer's Association Building Brain-Healthy Habits education program provides research-backed guidance on brain health and outlines the importance of taking action at every age to protect your brain. Research shows there are everyday habits you can build today to help protect your memory and thinking as you get older — even reducing your risk of cognitive decline and possibly dementia.

In this program, you will:

Learn about healthy habits for your brain, like exercising and eating right.
Hear why brain health is important at all ages.
Build a personalized action plan for brain-healthy habits. </aside>

ALAMOSA LIVE MUSIC ASSOCIATION

Organization Overview: The Alamosa Live Music Association is a dynamic non-profit community arts organization in the San Luis Valley. Enriching and celebrating the lives of musicians and community members alike, ALMA fosters joy and connection by providing opportunities for diverse cultural expression through live music.

Current Volunteer Opportunities:

Sundays at Six Food Drive Volunteers

Volunteer Duties:

VOLUNTEER 1:
- Obtain empty food crates from Alamosa Food Pantry (802 State Ave., Alamosa) no later than Friday afternoon
- Arrive at Cole Park by 5:30pm on Sunday evening, bringing empty food crates
- Bring a folding chair to sit on and enjoy the concert!
- No shifts available at this time
VOLUNTEER 2:
- Arrive at Cole Park by 7:00pm on Sunday evening
- Bring a folding chair to sit on and enjoy the concert!
- Take filled food crates home after concert is over
- Transport filled food crates to Alamosa Food Pantry (802 State Ave., Alamosa) on Monday, 12-4pm
- Shifts available for:
  - July 12
  - July 26
  - August 9
  - August 26
  - August 23

Sundays at Six Concert Helpers

Help the ALMA board and staff at this summer’s Sundays at Six concerts. Volunteers will help unload and set up tent(s), tables, banners, and supplies (opening shifts), remain under or near the tent during the concert and assist with band merch, distributing member coupons, greeting visitors & answering questions, percussion activity, etc., and help take down tent(s), tables, banners, etc. (closing shifts). Bring a chair to sit on during down times.
