A collaborative initiative of Spark the Change Colorado (Spark by Project Helping) and Colorado community members
Our Mission:
The Mental Wellness Task Force of Colorado aims to build a network of individuals and organizations and build a toolbox of mental health resources through collaboration, education, connections, and action.
Our Story:
The Mental Wellness Task Force of Southern Colorado formed in response to a tragic youth suicide that catalyzed community action. In the aftermath, diverse individuals and organizations gathered to assess mental health resources in Southern Colorado. This meeting revealed the need for a formal group to address mental wellness in the region, leading to the Task Force's creation in 2023. Their mission, born from this gathering, focused on building a strong network of mental health support and resources.
The Task Force quickly gained momentum as volunteers, mental health professionals, educators, and community members joined forces to foster mental well-being. Through collaboration and shared experiences, they launched initiatives to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and improve access to mental health services. A cornerstone project—the Annual Suicide Memory Walk—created a safe space for survivors to connect and engage in open dialogue. This event offered both essential resources and a sense of belonging for those affected by suicide loss.
Expanding to Northern Colorado As the Task Force's reach expanded, their community impact grew clearer. By connecting individuals with services and resources, they became central to promoting mental wellness and resilience in Southern Colorado. Today, their collective work stands as a beacon of hope and support, embodying the compassion and unity at the heart of their mission.
We are excited to announce the expansion of the Mental Wellness Task Force into Northern Colorado. This growth reflects our commitment to supporting mental health across the state through collaborative, community-informed efforts.
We recognize that each region has its own unique strengths, challenges, and needs. As we launch the Northern Colorado Task Force, we are dedicated to engaging local stakeholders to co-create a strategic plan that reflects the priorities and values of the community. This strategic approach will help identify and address key areas of need, while building on existing community assets and fostering partnerships that promote sustainable, equitable mental wellness solutions.
Together, we can ensure that every community has access to the resources and support needed to thrive.
